I don’t have time to workout!

Don’t have time to workout?

I’m pretty sure we all know that this is the #1 excuse in the world of exercise.

But to some degree, it’s true. Finding the time to exercise on a consistent basis can be a real challenge at times. Especially now leading into the holidays this is a time of year where a lot of people slow down on their fitness activities.

If time is something that you struggle with, then there’s 2 different things we can look at.

1 – The “excuse” side and that we all have the same amount of time in a day.

There’s 24 hours in a day, every day, forever. This is a fact that we can’t deny, so how can some people fit it in while others can’t. It simply comes down to priorities and time management.

It’s not about how much time we have, it’s what we do with the time we have. Is fitting exercise it into your day a priority for you? Or do you plan everything else and then use the hope method for being able to do it later? It may not be a priority for you, and that’s ok, but if you truly want to exercise, then it’s not about having time, it’s about making time. You need to make it a priority and plan it into your day, plain and simple.

2 – How long is your workout?

This is a very valid thing to consider because it’s simply harder to make time for a 1-2 hour workout and it’s easier to have time for a 15-30 minute workout. It’s important to consider how much time you spend working out and what you’re doing during that time.

Everyone working hard during their workout

Sadly, a lot of typical gym time is usually spent talking, texting or just browsing social media. Imagine if you took all of that unproductive time out of your “workout” and just got to work. How long would your workout be then? Smart programming can maximize your effort and reduce your overall time spent in the gym, making it easier to fit in your day.

With these things in mind, I hope that the next time you are thinking “I don’t have time to workout”, or hear someone else talking about not having time for the gym, that’ll you’ll consider these options.

Push yourself to make time and see if you can condense your workout and you’ll be glad you did!
